Term 3, 2008 Newsletter

28th July.

Welcome back to term 3. We hope everyone had a good break and great holidays.

Bizzy Buddyz OSCAR is going through some changes this term. Diane Sanson is leaving us on the 1st August. Diane is keen to concentrate her efforts in the home based area. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Diane for all her hard work in the OSCAR centre.

Elizabeth Allan has been employed to take over the manager roll and will be working alongside Diane for the next 2 weeks.  Please introduce yourself to Liz as she would love to get to know you all.  Liz would like to introduce herself to you.

“Hello Everyone

My name is Elizabeth Allan. I have lived in Whakatane since 1984 and have two children and two grandchildren. I have worked as an educator for NZ Crippled Children’s Society; Supervisor for Mananui Play Centre and Colours Educare. I have tutored in seven local primary and secondary schools and I hold a current Teacher Registration. I was the Chaplain at Whakatane Intermediate for two years in the late 90's. I currently, and will continue to, tutor students both privately and also on behalf of SPELD EBOP. I am pleased to be the new Manager of Bizzy Buddyz OSCAR and consider it an honor and a privilege to have your children in my care. There is a changeover period of two weeks when Diane and I will be together and Diane is remaining at the helm until Friday 1st August. I look forward to meeting you all and from the 4th August I invite your input and ideas on how we can make the centre an even more positive and enriching experience for your family.

“It takes a village to raise a child.”

The cell phone number you currently contact Diane on will be the same number you will be able to reach me on as from Monday 4th August. I look forward to a long and rewarding association with you and your family.”

Welcome to Michelle Clarkson who is also joining our team. Michelle will be working between our two centres, Whakatane and Ohope. Please make Michelle feel welcome and we know the children will appreciate the contribution she has to make to the OSCAR programme.

We also welcome Michelle Coffin who has joined the team this term.  Michelle is the Oscar Office Administrator and will be in the Office from 9am -12pm each day.   Michelle will also be at the Whakatane Centre each day from 2.45pm for half an hour to meet our ratio requirements.

Keeping our records up to date is imperative therefore we ask that should you have any change of contact details or required care hours that you complete a ‘Change of Detail Form’, these are available from the centre.

Pease remember you are required to contact us if your child is going to absent.

Fees – while we appreciate that from time to time your child may be away with little notice, we would like to remind you that we require 5 working days notice of an absence, or you will be charged in full for the booked hours.

Ohope OSCAR Programme.

At the beginning of term 2, we began an after school programme at the Ohope Beach School. We have two great ladies on staff, Julie Hind and Rachel Apanui. They have many years experience and expertise between them. They are providing an amazing programme for the children, which they are enjoying immensely. The support from the Ohope School and community has been outstanding. If you need care at Ohope after school we still have spaces available. Please phone the office for details.

Thank you for your continued support and we hope the current changes won’t be too disruptive.
